aladdin advance question

when i installed my aladdin,i grounded the do point so the chip is always enabled.when i go to watch a movie,it won't play and it says i need the xbox dvd playback kit.is it doing this because i grounded the do point?

What dash are you booting to?

actually,it doesn't boot to a dash.when i put in a backup,the xbox logo comes up and it says xecutor under the logo and then the game boots up.

so basically you havent put a dash on it?

you need to install evo-x or similar and get dvdregionX or whatever its called , get slayers evo-x installer from 'the usual places' and use that as it has all the apps you'll need on it

you should find slayers on suprnova if you have trouble

joker,this is the second chip that's been in my xbox.the first one was an xecutor and it would boot up to evox.the chip went bad so i installed the aladdin.for some reason the aladdin chip doesn't boot to the evox screen.when i put in a backup,the xbox logo comes up and right below it,it says xecutor and the game boots up.i never deleted evox or ftp'd the xbox so i can't figure this out.

Try powering up your console with no game in the drive and see if it loads to the Evox dash...silly I know but you didn't say if you've tried that yet.

merc,when i boot it without a game,the xbox logo comes up with xecutor2 under it,and then it goes to the xbox dash.

you need to reinstall evox by the sounds of it or flash with a bios which looks for evoxdash.xbe before the msdash

Was your last chip an SST based chip? you could pop the SST chip out and swap it into the aladdin if the bios isnt corrupt (maybe useless depending on why the chip was bad)

I'm not sure how experienced you are but you have 2 options really

flash bios with executer 4983.__ release and install evo-x using slaters auto installer

or

try installing evo-x again without flashing the bios manually or using the evo-x installer from slayer

joker,i have no experience.do i have to ftp to install evox or can it be installed by disc?
