Cannot get PES 4 to load, just sits at the Xbox start screen, thought the problem was down to media but used one that has always worked before and still no joy. Have an original Enigmah chip anybody know if this needs a patch and which one?.

There are no patch's or crack's for this game, it works 'as-is'.

If it won't boot and you've checked all the 'usual' things then theres a fair chance it 'aint gonna run on your very old chip :(

Not 100% but I don't think you can flash enigmah chips. So it's either upgrading your chip or installing an exploit which will work. Exploits however are IMHO a poor substitute.
I've upgraded quite a few enigmah chips, and by that I mean ripped em out and replaced with Xecuters :-) it's no big deal as long as you're careful, chances are you can use the d0 wire (which is the only tricky one) from your current chip with an executer fit.... if you use the Xapter thingy you wont even need a soldering iron. All you'd have to do is trim away all the other wires (cept d0 ) screw down a Xapter and bingo, new chip with no patching worries any more. Soldering the chip is preferable but if you have no experience the afore-mentioned method would be just fine :-)

k mate, had this earlier in the week with a guy that had this game running an old m 2.6 bios i think, would just dump him on the dash as if there wasnt a disk in the drive, reflashed his bios to latest, and all worked fine.

also try setting time and date to correct as this can fook this game as well mate

failing that, get the chip removed and a new one installed

I got it working on a very old Enigmah.

It wouldnt work at first, but I patched all the .xbe with xbepatch and then put on hard drive. Sweet now.
