Recently purchased a pre-modded PS2 with a Messiah 2 Pro chip installed. Received the system, everything works great, 'cept for when I try to boot Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 Nemesis for Playstation. I've acquired these 2 backups from 2 different people are different kinds of media, I've even tried reburning them, and guess what? They do not boot. They hang at the psx logo screen. Other playstation backups that I've tried seem to work fine, but Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 Nemesis do not. The guy I bought them from has offered to send me to new versions on Memorex black bottom and if that doesn't work then I don't know what is up. Any help appreciated m8s.

Yeah it could be media. I personally don't trust anything but Taiyo Yuden dye CD-Rs myself. It could also be the burn speed. I won't trust anything higher than 4x on CD-R.

Well, I've had them on Memorex, Sony, and Verbatim cdr. I've reburned them myself on the same media at the slowest speed possible but no luck. I'm thinking it's the media, but that doesn't explain why other psx backups boot as they are on similiar medias. The guy I purchased them from said he'd be sending me 2 replacements on Memorex Black Bottom so I'm going to try that and see what happens.
Phil: Let me know if you have any luck as the two sellers I purchased them from both said they were tested in a Messiah 2 Pro system (same as mine).

It could be that they are games that required some sort of patch and they weren't applied. BTW with CD media, it is the same as DVD Media. The dye manufacterer matters and not the brand name label. Memorex, Verbatim, ect. are just labels. I personally only trust Taiyo Yuden discs. Fujifilms Made in Japan are gauranteed to have the Taiyo Yuden dye as well.

Well, I'll look for a patch that perhaps I can apply to the games and I'm also going to try the black bottom disks and see if that works. If that doesn't fix the problem, then I'm stumped and I'll just say screw it.

Black bottomed discs don't make much difference. They are good but they are not the "universal PSX media" that some make them out to be.

Could also be that those PS1 games have mod detection. You will need to patch them.

Alcohol 120% will supposedly bypass PS1 copy protections.
