View Full Version : computer monitor stays blank

Ok i just bought a Geforce4 mx 440 with AGP 8x and when i put it in my computer, then my monitor stays blank. When i remove it, then the monitor is fine. Can anyone help me?

Do i need to post up more information? lmk

Most definately but let's start with this. Is it safe to guess that you have onboard video and are currently using that? Did you move the monitor cable from the old video card/built-in video card to the new Geforce card?

try re seating the card and changing video in the bios from pci to agp. not sure if there is an option for disbleing the agp slot but you may wish to look for it to make sure.

oh yeah, and post more info

Most importantly make sure that your Mainboard is capable of handling 8x AGP card. xdeity's suggestion also holds a good value.

i know the problem now. i have to connect the computer monitor directly to the geforce video card but the monitor has vga output and the geforce card only has dvi. does anyone know where i can get a dvi to vga converter? lmk

damn handyguy you almost killed me with that price. if it had to come to that i would have just bought a brand new video card with the vga output already in it. lol

pretty much. you just have to make sure you get the right kind, like connecting a vga monitor to a dvi vid. card, as opposed to getting one to connect a dvi monitor to a vga vid card.
