ive got a virus

ive been notified by norton i have a virus ive checked and wil try and rid it the morn but how do i get rid of this alert on my screen clicking on ok doesnt do anything

Very sorry to say... but... Disable Norton!

Looks like your still infected norton is warning you you should deal with it before it causes some damage for all you know it might format on next boot.

Go to www.avast.com (http://www.avast.com) and d/l the free avast! Virus cleaner and run that. Disable Norton A/V and Windows System restore before running it. Sorts out most common worms/virus. Then ditch Norton and install avast! Home edition which is also totally FREE and unlike Norton is not a resource hog and importantly does the job it is meant to. :)

i did the virus cleaner and it didnt detect it the virus i have is w32.spybot.worm

ok, i have been speaking to tam.

he finally got NAV to run in safe mode and it appears to have removed the virus, but im sure he will post back to let us knowin detail as it was only a swift chat we had.

Did you turn off system restore before rebooting into safe mode?
