Dodgy folder in C:/ directory

I've looked around on my new laptop recently and in the c:/ directory, theres a folder called "c2f332439dee3a4283c6a2".

Inside this folder there is a "download" folder and a xpsp2res.dll file, whenever I try to open it the download folder it says access is denied

Was wondering what this folder was?

well the file is certainly valid for XPSP2. did you ever get a failed or part download of sp2?

na, this is a new laptop. probrably a used laptop and aldi trying to pass it off as brand new.

does it have sp2 on it, from that filename I assumed so.

maybe they loaded xp with sp1 and then updated them to sp2. bloody strange thing to do, but then it is Aldi as you say.

Whatever said and done, one thing is sure... it's a kind of leftover from SP2 installation. Very strange though! I hope you are not too worried. ;)
