Yep, so, I decided to try the Star Wars Battlefront demo off the bonus disc in the SW box set, and the XBOX Live dash was installed upon loading it up. Now, the Evox dash is gone. Is there any way I can re-flash my Xbox w/the Evox Dash w/out opening it up/networking it to a PC? I have an Xecuter chip.

firef*cker's auto installer, I only mention this one becuase it's based on Unleashx. You can use the built in file explorer to change your xboxdash.xbe. After your done doing that I would suggest reflashing the chip to look for evoxdash.xbe instead of xboxdash.xbe. and renaming your evoxdash to reflect the change, leaving xboxdash.xbe to M$. This isn't the first wave of attacks by M$ and it won't be the last either.

....and this can all be done w/out opening it up/networking it to a PC?
If so, would you be so knd (and patient) to give me babystep by babystep instructions on how to do all this? I'm a real dummy when it comes to this kind of stuff.

hmm networking is essential, but the easiest way is slayers auto installer, it has an option to install evox. not much simplerer than that. put the boot disk in the drive and select the option.

after you have evox setup then you can start to work on your bios, in evox go to system utilities then backup, it will backup your bios in C:/backup. Since you don't have network acces you'l have to setup the network read this guide (http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?&act=ST&f=23&t=183856) to do that.

After you can transfer files between your pc and xbox you grab the bios.bin from the c:/backup folder and put it on your pc.
Grab an application named xbtool from xbins or any usual place and use the application to change the boot order on the bios.
Send the altered bios.bin to C:/Bios then use evox to flash the bios on your chip, make sure to send the evoxdash.xbe along with the bios so that when you do flash the file it is lookign for is already there.

Hope this wasn't to confusing. If it is just try it one step at a time and we'll be around to help get you to the next step.

If you have a chip you should just be able to boot from the slayers disk and reinstall everything (even without a dash installed to the HD the slayers disk should do it)

Will I lose my game saves?

You probably will but if you make and evox disk and ftp the entire e:\ drive you will save it

Then use a slayers disk

Did you make a backup folder for your evox and save it you need that if you want to use a larger HD

I didn't handle anything when it came to modding my Xbox, so I have no clue how things are set up in there...plus, I'm completely clueless when it comes to all that, anway. I think my best bet is to pick up a used memory card and transfer the saves I need b/f I run the slayers disc. I just hope I can fit all the ones I need onto one card. Oh, and will I be able to pull up the MS dash from the new Evox dash after installing the slayers disc?

Slayer's won't delete your gamesave unless you tell it to format the E: drive. If you really want to back up your saves you can ftp into the xbox with the slayers disk, you would have to setup your network to reflect the network settings of the disk. Once your connected you just send the contents of the E: drive to your computer.

So, I can use the slayer's disk to just get the Evox dash re-installed, and nothing else if I choose? Are there some screenhots somewhere that shows what it's like when you put the slayer's disk in?
And, I'm not planning on networking my Xbox w/a PC any time in the near future for a few reasons:
1. I'm technologically incompetent when it comes to this stuff (though, I'd like to like to learn, someday.)
2. I do not have the means to do it, anyway; i.e. I don't have a home PC, crossover cable (or whatever) or even the tools necessary to opening the box up.

BTW, thanks to everyone for helping me out. You've all been a lot of help. :)

Thanks for the info pepski
I have just done the drives from scratch I have slayers but have never used it yet to restore a messup so I didnt pay attention that it does not touch your e: drive
