This is an AVI? XviD, like DivX is an ASP ISO MPEG4 video codec. Infact both came from the OpenDivX project.
DivX can and does by default decode XviD. However I would recommend just installing XviD. ffdshow can also decode it though.

Actually it would be a tar.gz or tar.bz file. Doesn't matter where you put it, however do you realise that it is source code? You need a compiler, plus the DirectX SDK if you want to compile the dshow filter which you will need for playback in dshow based media players.
Easier and quicker just to download a pre-compiled binary from say Koepi or me.

That said compiling really isn't that hard.

Celtic just for a second pretend like you are talking to a complete retard (cause you are) =] Which file on your site do I need to DL in order to playback with as little for me to mess up as possible :insane:
I really appreciate your assistance.

Basically any of them. XviD-1.0.2.exe is an installer for v1.0.2, basically the same as Koepi's, both v1.0.2 source compiled with ICL7. Koepi's comes with a few extra usefull utils though.
The 7z's are just the files with no installer for those that want them.
cvs head is the current dev branch, it is what eventually will become v1.1. There is a feature freeze with v1.0.x so basically cvs head has more features but may not be stable or necessarily produce compliant output. Current code hasn't been updated in a fair while so I would say it is pretty stable.

Worked like a charm =]
Is there a way to make it where I can put it on a DVD and watch it on a reg DVD player?

For regular DVD players you need to convert to DVD Video. The other option is a MPEG4/AVI player. Should be able to pick up a decent one for under $100 USD. Then there is always an XBox if you have one.

As I understand it PS2's via the PS2 reality player can playback DivX/XviD AVI's.
For info on converting to DVD Video, you need to check out the DVD Video forum. Also there is probably info in the PS2 forum on PS2Reality.
