is it possible to put custom audio over video?

i want to put an audio file i made over a short mpeg i have without changing the viveo setting. i know that virtualdub and dr.divx can put any audio over video, but i have to set/change the video settings.

are there any programs that can simply copy and ausio over a video without altering it?

Actually mpg would be VCD or DVD Video.

Basically you just do your audio, encode to mp2 (for (S)VCD and DVD) or AC3, etc. for DVD.

For (S)VCD multiplex with your video. So you have old video, untouched together with the new audio in a new mpg file.

For DVD you can just add the new audio to your authoring app and delete the old one, or keep both and have the ability to switch.
