Can't go wrong with xecuter 4983.67 or the new m8 bios

anything above 4981 is good on the x2 series (may not be an issue for you at the moment but bare in mind that the 4983.xx) bios is not editable in xbtool on account of there being some x3 related code in the 4983 bios.

if you are wondering whats the difference between .06 and .67, .06 means the bios will support a single F: drive and .67 means the bios will allow both an F: and G: drive. If you are planning on using a hd < ~250GB then a single F: will be fine, however due to a quirk with the FATx (native xbox) file system data starts to go missing beyond the 250GB mark, so if you plan to install an hd >250GB (though dunno why you'd want to ;) ) i'd go with a .67 bios

personally i use an modified m8 bios, after having used the 4981.06 bios for a long time.

one thing you may or may not affect your decision is that the xecuter2 bioses support in game rest (soft restting of the xbox) by holding L+R+back+start (better for fat controller) or L+R+back+black (better for small controller) together. There is now a hacked M8 bios that supports it if you look hard enough, but in general the evox bioses do not support this feature

Sorry to ask a silly question , But does the bios need to be 512k , also i was planning to install a 200 gb Hard drive , so do i need .67 as its more than 137 gb or is that for the highest partition ?

I'm using x2_4983.06_256k.bin , Is this safe just to burn to cd ?

The latest bioses like the x2 all have lb48 support so if you use the .67 gios you will have an f and g drive if you use the .06 bios you will only have an f
If you used a .67 bios on a 40GB drive it will still work fine if you want largre than 250 you have to have a .67 bios

So if you use the latest bios it depends on what alphabet letters you like (pretty much unless you want a honkin huge drive)

Also it should be a 512 bios goto

Flashed Just a few minutes ago . ms Dash boots up just as usual . Only difference being it says xecuter2 . So apparently its been flashed correctly :D

Should i Just install evox 2.6 then , And when i do this , does it boot from msdash ?

the dashboard files that the x2 bios are looking for are not there

it looks for the .xbe's in the following order on c:
1. avalaunch.xbe
2. evoxdash.xbe
3. mxmdash.xbe
4. nexgen.xbe
5. xboxdash.xbe

if none of the first 4 are there then it would launch the m$ dash which is xboxdash.xbe

should be able to rectify the problem by launching a boot disk slayer's 2.6 for instance, getting ftp access and copying over the .xbe file and other necessary files

Cheers . Just gonna install 2.6 just now :) , Gonna install a new hard drive tomorrow or tonight so i shouldn't really worry about the .ini ?

If you use the slayers disk to install your evox you shouldnt have to edit anything in your .ini slayers should take care of everthing for you. (If you want to go back later and tweak stuff in your .ini file you can later on)

Online manual for XBMC here (http://manual.xboxmediacenter.de) to get the best out of XBMC

although some of the features in the version in slayers will not be there as XBMC gets updated all the time
