:( Ouch! Once it starts 'ticking' even manufacturer can't repair it. :(

nah, sounds like the heads or arm has gone. don't even think the good old freezer trick will save this baby, but you could try it.

you might want to try the freezer trick. it might work for enough of a time to get the data off. if you don't know how to do it all it is is putting the hard drive in the freezer. that may sound stupid but it works. when i do this i usually leave it in the freezer over night. hope that works.

If that doesn't work and you really need to recover the data you can use a data recovery service, but these run pretty expensive. These are just what google found http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=data+recovery

Well I have success repairing a harddrive once...only once out of the many, but only to get by to retreive the data, still wasnt good to use again though. But I wouldnt suggest it unless you really know what you are doing. You can send it back to the manufactorer and they should be able to get the data off it.

Freezer trick! Yes it works many times but be cautious to put your disk into a polythin bag or it might get short. Even while connecting it back to the machine, wrap it with ice bag. It might work; who knows! :)
