View Full Version : Pirates of the Caribbean and smartripper 2.41
Hopefully someone can help me?
I have used Smartripper on a region 2 copy of pirates of the caribbean,
however the problem I have is that the first VOB that it extracts has no
sounds.
I have tried a second pirates of the caribbbean disc with exactly the same
problem.
Has anyone had this problem before?
How can I overcome this?
Thanks for your help.http://www.cdrom-guide.com/forums/images/smilies/t_up.gif

Don't know as I've not used SmartRipper for ages, I used DVD Decrypter on this R2 disc and it was fine so if I was you I'd give that a try as SmartRipper is not being worked on anymore and is literaly years out of date.

How are you determining that the vob has no sound ? ..... i.e. are you playing the .vob, on it's own in Power DVD or are you opening the VIDEO_TS.ifo in Power DVD ? ..... there is a difference ;)
Thanks Guys,
I just smartripped the vobs and played the first one using MP 9 which gave me no sound on the first VOB.
I have since used DVDx to create the output which is fine.
I have now used DVd decrypt which is something new for my utils.
Thanks again.http://66.197.142.137/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif

DVD Decrypter is by far the best software i have used for ripping. At first it was Smartripper for me then I myself started having problems withit and someone showed me the way to new found Happiness...

Well Pirates of the Carribbean is a DVD9 so technically you could do everything with shrink (and then burn with Nero or DVD Decrypter).

:wavey:
Just copied "Pirates" last nite using DVDShrink 3.1.7.6 -
movie only ~ DTS @ 75% comp. w/Deep Analysis
Took about 2 hours.
END RESULT: No Problems !!!
DVDShrink is...the Best.

2 hours? Your machine must be on the slow side. I never realized how much of a difference specs made until my recent upgrade (Thanks Mr.Snatcher ;) ).

Just curious how much of difference if I upgraded my CPU/MB
current burner is 106D
Usally rip time about 45min / burn time 15min
would a Pentium 4 3.2 Ghz make a diff? if the burner is the same?
Current - Pentium 3-866

Oh yeah. Let me put it this way I just upgraded my PC. I was running *holds head down in shame* a Celeron 1.1GHZ 400MHZ FSB(I believe) with 128MB SDRAM. I am now running a P4 2.4GHZ with 800MHZ FSB and 256MB DDR RAM (PC3200) and there is a WORLD of difference. For example I ripped the movie Firefox (About 5.8GB) and it required about 75% compression and I used the Deep Analysis. With the old machine it took about 1 hour and 20 minutes (just to run it through shrink). On the new machine with the exact same configuration it took just 25 minutes, 25 seconds(just running it through shrink). I didn't realize how much time I was losing until then. So yeah, A 3GHZ+ setup with lots of DDR ram is going to run WAY faster than your current setup.
