www.svpcommunications.co.uk (http://www.svpcommunications.co.uk) have the OEM version for £70 which is a bargain.
Writes +/- up to 8x.
Only £10 more than the NEC 8x and worth it IMO

Yeah but the 16x writers are supposed to put one heck of a demand on your PC. So unless you have really good specs it probably won't work very well. Also, if you look at the cost of "true" 8x media, then you will have an idea of what 16x media is going to cost when it first comes out and that it is going to be at least November before the 16x media is probably going to be anywhere near affordable. Also total burning time at 8x is 7-8 minutes max. At 16x it is going to be 4-5 minutes max. So we are talking about a total time savings of 3-4 minutes in burning time. Hardly worth holding out for. That and when you consider the fact that the Pioneer 107 has the firmware option to burn 4x media at 8x, it doesn't make any sense to wait. There is always something bigger and better around the corner, while I agree that it isn't good to buy things right at launch, it isn't good to wait until the very end either. You can get 52x CD Burners for next to nothing now but with DVD Burners out there it really doesn't matter much anymore.
