When I burn a disc, it burns for a while, then the light on my dvdrw goes out, and I have to reboot to get the disc out.
What ever program i'm using just contuines as if the disc is still burning but the time remaning goes through the roof, the speed its burning at drops to 0, and thats it.

drive is a nec1300a, using atria riteks.
Never had any problem with the drive, the discs, the software.
No idea whats going on, tried nero and dvddecrypter.
Any ideas?

Have you: 1. Cleaned the laser? 2. been using the burner to rip your games as well? 3. Checked the Arita discs to make sure they are Ritek? Arita Riteks are considered B-Grade discs so that could easily be the problem as well.

1. Never cleaned the laser.
2. Its ripped about 2 dvds in its whole life
3. The Manufacturers ID: RITEKG04, Burnt 100's of these discs no problem, better ratio the the ridata discs.
DMA settings are.
"Bios default"
I changed it to "Ultra DMA 2 - Ultra33"
Will reboot and burn a dvd now, see if it helps.

Sorry I wasn't specific enough m8.
I meant DMA settings in Windows ....Device Manager/IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers ... right click on both Channels, then Properties/Advanced Settings and check settings haven't reverted to PIO. Change if necessary.
