The DVDRG Design a Logo Competition !! ... Please re-read as rules have changed!

Having seen some of the great logos many members have come up with in the past on the old forum and bst we have decided to open up a competition to ALL DVDRG members, hey we even have some prizes too (so exclusive nobody else has them on the forum!).


So here's what we are looking for:-





A DVDROM-Guide.com Logo for the top of the mainpage no bigger than 468x100 in size - See shape below, that is 468x100.


The Logo must contain dvdrom-guide in it.



We would like you to keep the file size for static images below 20kb if possible but don't worry if it is a bit over that.

Please try and keep the file size for animated images below 50-60kb if possible but don't worry if it is a bit over that. We will most likely only consider flash or animated .gif's
(Please read below for further guidance)


The Logo Can be an animated one.
Although in the end static images may be preferred due to page load times and server performance.

We also ask that the winner provide any templates, fonts, *.psd, etc. used to create the logo. This is so that we can edit colors if we decide to change our theme.


The closing date of the Competition will be:- 18:00 GMT 9/4/2004 (The thread will then be locked and judging will take place)


And the prizes are:-

1) A "yourname@dvdrom-guide.com (yourname@dvdrom-guide.com)" Email address http://www.dvdrom-guide.com/forums/images/smilies/mail.gif



2) Your own Avatar below your username, you will be the only member on the whole forum with this.


In fact you will be the only member here with either of these! :cool:

3) A Prize to be awarded by Hoss at a later date.
Consisting of a pack of blank media (DVDR's or CDR's, Winners Choice)

Here are the RULES:-

1) You must follow all of the above to have your entry considered.

3) You can enter as many times as you wish, no restrictions on this.

4) The best entry will be chosen by the admin/moderating team after close of the competition and their decision will be final.

5) The winner will then be notified by us and will be posted on the forum.

The rules above have been changed as follows...

We are now going to allow animated gif's and flash files.
However due to consideration for page load times and server performance, you need to keep them small and efficient.
I would also further recommend no more then 4 or 5 frames per gif. And that you not make them too flashy/complicated. Perhaps a nice light affect on the edge of a CD/DVD would be nice. Or a slight rotation, a shadow and lighting affect.
...What I'm trying to say is keep it rather subtle would be my advice to you when making these. But it's your creation! Do as you wish :)

I have also extended the deadline some 10 days to April 9th so that you people can have more time to be creative with the above.

P.S. - I've also fixed the problem with not displaying Boss1986's images and have re-enabled your ability to upload these images as file attachments to the server.
This feature is to be used for this contest ONLY! And will be disabled once it ends. As I felt it would be unfair to those members who wished to participate but had no place to upload their images.
Be forewarned abuse of the file attachment system by anyone will be dealt with harshly!

Nice image :P, background found on wincuztomize.com :P Works well though. Although DVDROM-GUIDE coulda been done in a better font. And the border colours could be the ones already used here so it blends in :P (Very nice though)

What software is best for animated gifs - looking for something simple to use. I'm use to photoshop ?

And I'm not much of a hand with graphics, Uleads Cool 3D (and I think they have a sep gif animator app as well) use to be decent for gifs or even Paint Shop Pro
