ps2 remote question

i bought this remote sony one.
It said
This dvd remote control scph-10420 U is not compatiable with some ps2 systems.
If you own one of the model umbers listed below, use the scph 10171 dvd remote control:
scph-30001, scph-35001 gt, scph-30001 R, scph-39001, scph-39010/n

I have the scph-39001 ps2
i heard u need some drivers for the ps2 i am using
it will not work? correct?

Wont work on a version 7 PS2
10420 is for a version 9 and up

10171 is for Version 7 Ps2 and under

You need a 10171 for your version 7
It also has the dongle the driver update is for version 4 and under to use with the 10171 the drivers had to be saved to a memory card
