OK Really Stoopid Question but....

Does the PS2 Network Adapter have the same issues as the XBOX regarding Mod Chips? Do Sony ban you if you have a Messiah chip?

My PS2 wasn't working for a year and a bit and in that time i got by on XBOX and GameCube Games but Socom is getting harder to resist buying....

And I know it's a really stupid question but I have trawled both this forum and the previous one but there was no topic on it.....

no, they sony doesnt ban you, however DNAS a new security measure is being useed in the newer games which doesnt allow you to play backups online. however u still dont get banned. DNAS might possibly have been cracked, there should be another thread about it. But no, its not like xbox where u get banned for ever

Sorry. I always thought that you couldn't play backups online?? Does what you said mean that some of the older games (with out the DNAS code) can be played as backups online without any problems????

That is correct. There are only a handful that fit into this category though. There is a new project underway to bypass DNAS on backups. Checkout ps2ownz for more info. What it will do is allow you to patch your games before you back them up and it will then bypass the DNAS. From what I understand it is pretty close to completion.
