just been on the cdrom forum which we were told was closing down, but theres a post from the webmaster saying it isnt.whats going on here then.or am i going mad.
this is the contents of the post by the webmaster...
As it is obvious, CDROM-Guide.com is not closed. Contrary to a rumor that appears to have been started, CDROM-Guide.com is NOT going away! It will never go away! This site has been in existence since 1996 and has experienced a VERY colorful past with LOTS of ups and downs. Although we have not made continuous improvements to the site, we have been consistent with keeping it up and running. Unfortunately we have not been working as closely as we should have with the mods and admin, for that we are sorry.
We are now working on improving the website server hardware and software in preparation for the soon to be released vBulletin forum software. The new vBulletin is significantly different from our current one with improvements in functionality and
appearance. We have plans to expand and promote the site in new ways. More on that later.
To our loyal CDROM-Guide.com users we thank you greatly for your participation and patience, and hope that you will continue with us as we improve and grow the site. For the moderators who have recently left the boards, no hard feelings. Thanks for your contributions and good luck to you guys wherever you go. For those who have been spamming the boards promoting other sites, please be reminded that our posting policy prohibits that and we will obviously need to remove those posts.

we, the mods and admins, also thought it was closing steve. the webby there had let it get to two days before the dns registration expired and hoss was trying to contact him to buy the database. hoss got no reply at all from charles and so he took the steps to save the cdrg community and started to set this forum up. the rest of us mods needed no convincing to come over here and carry on as mods and help keep the community together. charles, cdrg webby, then found out that hoss was setting up this forum and so he decided to renew the domain registration but it was too late. too much work had been done on here, mainly by hoss, jams, lazza and darkman and some of the mods, for us to just say oh well back to cdrg we go, and so we continued with this forum. now this forum is the latest in the v bulletin software, it is a lot more modern than the old cdrom guide and at least we all know we can get hold of the owner and admins if we need too.
the cdrg webby is now clutching at straws and has even unbanned some of the banned members to make cdrg look better.

Just to add my thoughts, I am now going to both sites and it will take a while to get used to here but, as BHD said, its more up to date software wise and a better display. I like it here but old habits die hard. I think this new forum will succeed but I aint going back and forth carrying tales from the other side, not productive at all. Those who are here just be here and get on with things but will this site will be a bit safer than the old one? Good luck to this forum and I await the end of the status queries and the first "how can I burn a cdg disc" lol.
P.S. Anyone here seen William?

I guess it's the people that make a forum, I walked away from a forum in the past and it wasn't easy but in the long run it was a good decision ;)
I've not been here long but I hope to change that.
