Hi , this new pc really is getting to me :bawling:

Anyway have it powering up fine now , goes to the bios etc.. havent tried installing windows yet as I can get the drivers onto a floppy disk.

The floppy drive in question is a sony mpf920, ive put it in the new machine and it picked it up , but the one im on now doesnt , ive tried every combo the cable has to offer and still no luck , checked in the bios and it said it was there.

The led lights up when i put a disc in but doesnt make the usual floppy loud noise flopies make when reading , when i double click the A: drive or try to format a floppy it says "Insert Disk into A" the led lights up at this point

ve tried 2 different both brand new floppy wires and still no luck.

Anyone any bright ideas ?:bawling: :bawling:

Besides enabling the floppy controller in the BIOS, you must aldo make sure the floppy drive is set to its correct format (i.e. 3.5" or 5-1/4").

If it still doesn't work, try a different floppy drive. The one you have may be a bad drive.

Bright Idea? : How About A New Drive?

Most likely you will need to replace it mate...
Before that just check few things..

The floppy drive settings are correctly configured in CMOS.
The data cable's twisted end is connected to the drive.
And you are not missing pin no. 1
Remove the data cable and inspect the floppy drive and mainboard connector pins.
