Hi, is there anyway to take out the post count visible under your name? Or make it optional to be there or not? Like how cdrg was without any post count under your name. just curious. thanks

You would need to ask jams if he could hack that or not. However at the moment he's really busy trying to hack other things for the board that we need right away.

I would rather not be informed of the amount of posts I have but rather the quality of the posts made. But hey, its just me and we can't change or implement a feature just because one member thinks different. So I guess I can live with this.

so maybe we could have a voting system then, like the rating system but a personal one, where if you are answer a post, the originator votes and that shows up instead

yea i like that idea it's beter then just posting something stupid an gething credit for it, now if u post something usefull some 1 can give u a star or 5 depending on the help an quality of your post.

I believe that all the "useless" posts should be in the member's lounge, and the posts in the member's lounge doesn't count towards your post count. ;)

Be optomistic and think you have made 1688 useful posts. The last 3 weren't useful, but they don't count just as my pointless reply doesn't count. So really, it all works out. blah blah blah blah :D

Yea. I know that not off of those posts were useful. out of three years here and that would make it one post a day. I was really active couple years ago, but then started going to BST and came here less. Now that this transition of forums, I would say that I would come here more often. LIke the new look and feel, but I would also like some of the old features implemented in the future. Maybe not now but in a couple years or so.

Some forums adopt a system whereby the poster of the thread credits one of the replies as the "accepted answer", I guess it would be easy to implement something like that and have your number of "accepted answers" displayed (it wouldn't necessarily have to be "accepted answer" - maybe "best answer" or "most helpful answer" ...)

Personally I think thats a bit egocentric, but maybe thats because I only actually post something helpful ones every 5 months or so :)

I've been biting my tongue for a bit now, since I don't ever see us having a rating system here for "accepted or helpful answers". Just because your answer could have been the answer but wasn't in that particular situation, why should you be judged? It's just too objective, and creates an atmosphere of competition that isn't welcome here. There are people from many different backrounds and different points of view here, which provides members with more than one option at times.

I agree Elaine, its not necessary at all and not what this forum is about.

Go easy on that tongue, you could get an ulcer :)

EDIT: As an afterthought though, it can be useful when searching a forum to be able to easily see which answer exactly solved the problem in hand.

EDIT AGAIN: But I'm not saying I'd like to see that here, just giving the plus side of the system.

no, i really wasn't being that serious, am i ever?

sure there are some good points about it but it would start more of a war than anything else.

i'm sure there are loads of ideas in the pipeline to keep this the best forum :)

Yeah, but aren't mods the only ones that can rate the threads? I would like them to do it much more. For example, if a thread had a question and there were ver useful answers and resolution to the problem, then that thread should be rated. That way, if you search for "PS2 screen flicker" and you come up with 20 results, there may be a few with Stars next to it that will mean that it will most likely have the answer or resolution to your problem. This would be easier instead of looking through all twenty posts for the resolution. Ofcourse, you can also Google it :)
