Im having a little problem with windows explorer.

If i right click (to explore them) on a cd/dvd rom drive or any of the contents on my hard disks ( 2 of) i get this message

" Windows explorer can no longer continue and must shut down" or something like that and then gives me loads of details of the error.

Its starting to p*ss me off now.

Thanks for any help guys or gals

hmm I'm getting a similar error when I try to use the control panel, it doesn't happen all the time though.

I have both hard disks on ide 0 and both roms on ide 1, could this be the problem?

Update;

I have just swapped drives around( HD to rom)...No change.:insane:

Try putting the Windows XP CD in your drive, go to start, run, and type in:

SFC /SCANNOW

The System File Checker (SFC) will check your system files and replace from the Windows XP CD as necessary, for any corrupted files.

Great tip Phil, but it didnt work, alas. I am using sp1 for the first time ( never put it on any system I have made before) as i need the usb 2 drivers, so im wondering if it is anything to do with that.

I built this system last Wednesday using a asrock mb. I updated the bios strait-away. May i have some bios settings wrong, but i have been through them loads of times and cant see anything wrong.

Just read your post. I had same problem as you . I kept spysweep and just unchecked "Add sweep for spyware to windows explorer context menu" in "options" and that fixed it.
