View Full Version : what soft do I need for .avi to dvdr or cdr

As post says, what software to I need to either transfer a .avi or mpeg file to cdr or dvdr so it will play in my dvd player ?

probably best to post in the VideoCD forum as this is basically what you are looking to do.

There are a few programs which will do this for you but with varying results, in terms of quality, speed etc.

Have a look at http://www.dvdrhelp.com/convert#4;11 for some various options and the tools necessary.

Is this a regular standalone? If so then you will need to convert and this is definatly the wrong forum for that.

For CDR you would need to go with (X)(S)VCD which may mean more than one disc. I would suggest going for DVD, so I'm moving this to the DVD video forum.

do a search for "cucusoft" excellent soft ware for what u want.

There are much faster encoders that offer better quality to.

Personally I would suggest CCE for MPEG2 encoding or Nic just released a nice little program called QuEnc which uses libavcodec for encoding which is opensource, free and reasonably quick.

Only accepts AVISynth Scripts as input, but that is ok as chances are your video needs resizing. Also it is video only so you will have to encode your AC3 seperatly.
