How long has this problem been going? What I would recommend is backing up your data and then doing a system restore to before the problem started.

Have you recently installed anything 'new'?

It's most likely an aplication saying that your OS is not supported......

It is not your mates system, try Jesters suggestion, your system will automatically set restore dates, and tells you what alterations were made if any.

Stop listening to your mate! :yell1: With a System Restore point you probable be able to undo and fix the problem in less then 5 minutes.

Have you tried running MSCONFIG and disabling the startup options?

You should turn on system restore for any drives and/or partitions that contain the OS's XP or ME.
