any1 know how to play these files? it says it's divx vf avi
any1 ever heard of them?

Guess maybe vf stands for video format. Anyway sounds like an AVI which contains a DivX video stream in which case yeah I reckon most people would have heard of them.
Windows comes with an AVI splitter so basically all you need is something to decode the DivX, such as DivX http://www.divx.com ffdshow http://athos.leffe.dnsalias.com/ 3ivX http://www.3ivx.com also XviD for DivX 4.x and 5.x.
Can also use a player like mplayer or VLC which has built in DivX decoding.
Only other issue is the audio, if it uses mp3 audio then you are fine as windows comes with a mp3 decoder. Could also use AC3 or aac though.

i've played avis before , converted from divx to dvd, vcd etc, but just couldn't get this 1 to work. installed all the usual codecs. must have been a dud, but thanx for the answer
