Seeing as I can’t find much on the ALX2+R3 Modchip, I’m going to get one of the below – can some please advice me?

As a novice Xbox user will I benefit from having a Smart XX chip over an Executer 2.3b lite?

I play backed up games, Divx’s and may network the Xbox to the PC at a latter date.

Done a bit of reading and from what I gather the smart XX chip is fourth generation, but will I notice any benefit?

Cheers

I wouldn't bother with the smartx as you probably won't use any advanced features of it. So the xecutor will probably work fine or if you want to save some money go with an alladin or applex chip which comes preflashed which is also a plus for novices.

I do not recommend the Aladdin chip AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!! I used to go to another XBOX forum and all of the noobs would come on there complaining about how they couldn't get them to work. Honestly the chip itself isn't the big issue, it's the lack of info for installation (there really isn't a good install tutorial). My advice would definitely be either a Xecutor 2.3 or the Xenium chip. Both chips are excellent and have lots of info about them. I agree that a pre-flashed Bios is handy but generally such chips come preflashed with out of date Bioses (ie Evox Bioses). If you want to play the latest games you will almost certainly have to reflash your Bios anyways.

I recommend the aladdin thoroughly for noobs , has to be probably one of the easiest to install imho and installation doesnt require a lot of thought to be honest check www.aladdin-live.com for decent install pics , 4 wires and the LPC connections and your laughing, fill up the necessary lpc holes and apply a thin bit of solder to the connections on the chip pcb connections. then just hold a 0.5mm soldering tip vertically and drag it upwards to join the 2. Dont remove the motherboard hit the top d0 point if possible and no need for the HD feature really as its pointless.

I would say any multi bank chip is overkill for what your actually going to be using it for, aladdin/clones will do you fine
