If I were to take a DVD game, which just happen to have a TOC small enough to fit on a CD, would it work??

That is...let say you have a DVD game that is <700MB....insert it into a Pioneer A06 and copy it using Nero...

Could you burn that game on a 700MB CDR and have it work on a v9 PS2/w Smartchip??

No, the problem is that the game is programed with media checks that tell the system it is a dvd game, you have to hex edit the media checks that label it DVD and label it as a CD.

One of our members on here gave me the dvd media check but I can't seem to find it, but it's out there somewhere.**EDIT** Found it

14000224 this is a cd check
change it to 2D100002

in hex

ps2dis for finding

so find 2d100002 in hex and change it to 14000224, but it might be a different string for the game your trying.

Not only that but it isn't worth it as CD-Rs are more stressful on the laser/motor assembly anyways. If you don't already have a DVD Burner then get one. No excuse when good quality burners are well under $100 and quality DVD-R media (ie Ritek) runs 50-60 cents a disc. ;) Even at the slowest speed, my 4x burned CD-Rs are noticeably louder than my 4x burned DVD-Rs.

You can do it, sure, but why?
