interactive cd-rom [Archive]

Hello all, I am not sure if this is the best place for this. Sorry if it is not.

I want to make an interactive cd-rom for my company (on the cheap) showing our various products company details etc. Is there any one on here who can do such a thing or who can re-diredt me to a guide where I could give it a go myself. Any advice would be appreciated.

Check out Macromedia Director. It is good for such things. Other options would be doing it in flash or just an offline webpage in html.

Done a couple of CD's myself in Director.

As for guides though, never looked for any myself, but I am sure there is plenty of info out there, try google.

I am sort of getting to grips with this now. However, there is one thing in particular I was hoping someone could help me with. I was hoping to have pdf icons on my stage so the users could click on them to open the pdf. I cant seem to get the pdf onto the stage I can put it in my cast but that is it, please help

I don't think there is anyway to integrate acrobat into director. So you would need to import an image for the icon and then have the user click the icon and it launches acrobat and it opens the PDF.

Thanks for the reply, sorry about all the questions. I would love to be able to put a pdf icon on it to get it to launch but I have no idea how, in fact I dont know how to get the buttons to work at all. Do I have to know script to do it? I thought it would be easier than that. If I can master the buttons I think I am halfway to making my cd (even though it will be slightly shabby!

please help!!

Thanks for the help m8 sorry to be a pain with my questions I am trying the support but find it confusing. This should be my last question hopefully. I have got the buttons working but I have given up on trying to get my pdf files to launch off the stage it is too confusing for me. Is there any other way I can get them on there I have tried pressing print screen trimming down the .jpeg and pasting it onto the stage but this is barely readable and unreadable in some sections. Any ideas how I could do this any better? remember I am a bit of a computer simpleton (relatively)
