help im a noob with xbox

ok just to tell you guys i play back-up games for my ps2. i got a xbox for x-mas. I like the no-solder things, is the X-BIT chip. I wanna know if its easy to install and other things like is it easy to turn it off to go on xbox live and stuff like that.
