dunno if its been posted but this is what he says:-

As it is obvious, CDROM-Guide.com is not closed. Contrary to a rumor that appears to have been started, CDROM-Guide.com is NOT going away! It will never go away! This site has been in existence since 1996 and has experienced a VERY colorful past with LOTS of ups and downs. Although we have not made continuous improvements to the site, we have been consistent with keeping it up and running. Unfortunately we have not been working as closely as we should have with the mods and admin, for that we are sorry.

We are now working on improving the website server hardware and software in preparation for the soon to be released vBulletin forum software. The new vBulletin is significantly different from our current one with improvements in functionality and
appearance. We have plans to expand and promote the site in new ways. More on that later.

To our loyal CDROM-Guide.com users we thank you greatly for your participation and patience, and hope that you will continue with us as we improve and grow the site. For the moderators who have recently left the boards, no hard feelings. Thanks for your contributions and good luck to you guys wherever you go. For those who have been spamming the boards promoting other sites, please be reminded that our posting policy prohibits that and we will obviously need to remove those posts.

Thanks and best regards.

well at least he doesnt hold a grudge, he seems to understand he messed up with us and the mods

but as said before, us and CDRG must now go our own way

The one and only reason that was said, was so as not to try and alienate any of the members that might have understood the mods point of view. They just want to keep as many members as they can. That's why they're now promising improvements over there. That is all they care about.

I agree - they might be promising improvements but I cannot see it evolving

why didn't these changes appear a few months ago, when the mods first started asking about the renewal of the domain name? As Skeg says, too little too late.
The new home is nice IMO so I'll certainly be sticking around

Trust us, we were asking about things in terms of years m8 not months without any real reply. :(

What's that old saying my old man used to use now? Oh yeah......

Talk is cheap!

yes i know. They expect this to be one of those ups and downs within the past 8 years. Well, this is more than that. When all the mods revolt, then something must be seriously wrong. I would say that this is one of the biggest move ever. He is trying to get people to say trying to compensate for what he didn't accomplish. I think thats all just BS. A lot of the members there are one time 1 day members and just a waste of member space anyways. Not much is going to be active in those forums anymore. This forum however is a new one that I think will prosper as time goes on and the word spreads.

I hold no grudges. Haven't been there since I was banned a year ago and even then I wasn't upset about it. Charles will post another message in about a year I'm sure, encouraging the members there to hang in there. I'd suspect the members there most likely don't have a clue what that message was all about anyways as I'm sure they're either here, at BST or one of the other UK boards out now...well, except for Inso.

I just had a quick look at that site, looks like a clone of this one now! I know we kept the same format, forums etc, but the design and layout there has been totally copied from this one. Last time I logged in was April 2004. Still have fond memories of that site, it pretty much taught me how to use my computer. Didn't Inso reg here, and then get banned?

Both sites basically have the same default VBulletin format so perhaps that's why they look alike. However you can change the colors here by going to the very bottom of the screen on the main page and selecting which one you want. There's a drop down list of the colors. The same is true at bst. Thanks to jams for that. :)

Yes, Inso was here for a bit. However he wanted to do and say whatever he liked. So he didn't last for long and was banned. He thinks the mods are dictators. He and I were actually friendly, even after that. However I didn't respond to a mail from him for about a week, and now I'm on the shite list. As I don't need the drama, I suppose that's a good thing. :)

I highly doubt you'd care if you were banned here. However don't make me regret reffing you into bst! :p
Or else you'd have to....

A. Find a new hobby
B. Actually do some work
C. Spend some quality time with the other half
D. Do DIY improvement on your new home(where you won't be able to ask bst members for advice)

:D
