MTX Mototrax hdd backup?

OK I give up .Ive been searching high and low for a hdd fix for this anybody please?

The game has a file that's too long or weird
character. That's why it wouldn't work when
you install it on the HD.

I know thats the prob.I ve downloaded a prog xbepatcher v.03 but I couldn tget that to work either Ive been messing with this game for hours trying to get it to work its become an obsession .So any help getting it to work off hdd would be great .thanks

note the name of the problematic file- rename it to something that will work-remember the name, open the game's "default.xbe" with a decent hex editor (like ultra edit32) use the search to find the orginally named file name (use the find(F3) and tick the search ASCII box in ultredit32), edit the original filename to whatever you renamed it, but don't just delete the spaces, you will need replace the characters deleted either with blank spaces or "."'s (right click and select "hex insert" and the number of chracters that need to be inserted), its been a while since i did a hex edit, i'm not sure if you need to use blank spaces or .'s

just make a back up and have a fiddle with it
