Okay, on that other forum (you all know) they have posted about this new DNAS Utility and a patcher along the way. However they insist on everyone trying to get the DNAS codes off a bunch of discs, or a patcher won't be released. Does anyone else have a bad feeling about this? Like that it is for only a certain group of people who need those numbers for themselves? Also why wouldnt other release groups releasing newer games post the codes since it takes a few seconds to get. Maybe I am just thinking it too much but I think something fishy is up and it doesnt seem too right to me.

** not to mention the date on the utility is from 2003 **

So it makes me also mad it took them so long to release it. but whatever!

uhhh....I think you have the wrong idea. The people at PS2nfo want people to get all the codes and post them so that other people can have them. The more codes we get the more likely the developers are to release their patcher utilities when completed. They won't share their programming with us if we don't support them. Also the reason they want to put the DNAS codes in the game .nfo is so that the person with the backup can easily put the code into the patcher and patch the game. Otherwise the user would have to burn the DVD plain, use the DNAS code generator to find the code for the game then burn another copy with the code patched in, this way you bypass the first step and you don't waste a DVD-R, there's nothing fishy about it.

These things take time, you don't have any idea how hard it is to make a patcher to patch a DNAS code into a game and have the PS2 be able to read it. If you don't want to wait, then I suggest you make your own patcher, sorry to flame you but I can't stand people who are so unappreciative of all the work the release groups do to supply us with everything they do.

I am not unappreciative. I just believe they are up to something fishy.

does this mean that we wont need a chip on our ps2 or does it mean we dont need to pach the games after we burn them to dvd.

All of this is actually misleading, this tool is just some incomplete work by citizenX. This DNAS tool only shows you the DISC ID that regular PC drives can't read, it doesn't do anything else. This tool was made last year and I am sure Paradox didn't wanted it to be released either, and just because you have the DISC ID, you can't do much anyways.

Actually this has been in the works since DNAS came out, the Disc ID utility has recently been released but paradox created it very early in the game and held onto it until they came across a breakthrough, which seems to be soon.
