i have only ywo software clone dvd and nero 6 which nero 6 i can only do cdr. i dont know
Correct me if I misunderstand, but If you're saying you can't see how to burn a DVD with Nero 6, open Nero Rom click the "New Compilation" icon (if the new compilation window isn't already open), in the top left hand corner of the new compilation window there's a small drop down menue which probably says CD, use the drop down menue to choose DVD, for a data DVD choose "DVD-ROM (ISO)".
If you're using Nero smart start, in the top right hand corner of the smart start window you will see two small icons for CD or DVD.

Most programs now will support burning Data DVDs. Recordnow Max, Alcohol 120%, ect. As mentioned above it could be that your drivers were not properly installed.

Sure, just burn it as data, that is unless you want it playable on a regular standalone in which case you need to check out the DVD Video forum.

It is questionable as to whether or not it will play those files. Some will some won't. The most comprehensive player outside of the computer is the Xbox Media Center which you can install if you have a modded XBOX. Incidentally, I wouldn't trust Philips as they have been putting out some pretty crappy DVD Players in recent years. If you are dead set on buying one of those, then get it from Wal-Mart as they have them for $10 cheaper over there. ;)

lol. all i want is xvid and divx player. if u saying a big xbox can do all those and plus more i might have to get a xbox. i only have a ps2 and many other system, but never own a xbox before and i might get one because i heard it can play hella stuff: dvd-r,vcd,svcd..... what brand can i turst these days? i wait until xbox drop:) and get me one becasue all i need is a divx and xvid player.

DivX and XviD are both MPEG-4 video codecs. Not just an issue of whether a DivX player can play XviD, but whether it can play DivX. Both are just codecs and the current players only support AVI as a container, so if your XviD file is in an AVI container with compatible audio and does not use any of XviD's ASP features currently not supported then yes it will work, even if it means changing the fourCC from XVID to DX50. By the same token if your DivX file is in an mp4, ogm or mkv container, then it won't play.
The XBox can handle three poiint GMC, custom quant matrices, containers other than AVI and lots more that no standalone currently can.

Don't bother getting any of them. You can play AVI files with your PS2. Pick up PS2 Reality media Player (a google search should find it for you) and D/L the latest version (should be V1.5). It will come up as a small bin file once you extract it. Simply burn the bin file to CD-R with Alcohol 120% and then pop it in your PS2. Just use this disc each time you want to watch your AVI files that are stored on CD-R. once it is loaded then you can swap out as many discs as you want to and it will play AVI files, MP3 format CDs, and JPEG discs. Outside of VCD it will do just about everything that Philips will do. Ultimately I do recommend getting a modded XBOX with XBMC but this will do in the meantime until you can get one. I just picked up PS2 Reality media player last night and it plays all of the avi files that I have. BTW you do have a chip in your PS2 right?

Not sure if the PS2 Reality player will work with your modchip but then again it's not like CD-R's are expensive. Do you have alcohol 120%? If not then get it, it will make the whole process alot easier. All you need to do is use Winrar and extract the .bin file to a readable folder, then open up Alcohol 120% and select the .bin file and burn it to disc. It should then work. BTW I tried a DVD-R disc with the AVI files and it didn't work. I don't know if that was my fault though.

Could you send me your e-mail addy?
u need to get cdgenps2 as well
try following these instructions to create your bin+cue
How to make a divx/xvid/mp3/jpg disc with ps2reality 1.50
*Read everything before you start to do this, its good to familiarise the steps.
*You need some sort of method to play backups. (Magic3.1 , Messiah 2 , DMS3, Fliptop and SMD) etc....
* DO NOT USE NERO BURNER... IT WILL NOT LOAD THE IMAGE PROPERLY
AND YOU WILL JUST WASTE A DISC!!!!!!!
* I have provided all the tools needed to make a successful disc!
Tools you will need:
1) PS2 Reailty Player 1.50
2) CDRWIN *DO NOT USE NERO BURNER , THERE IS A BUG IN THE PROGRAM THAT WILL NOT
BURN THE SECTORS TO A BIN AND CUE IMAGE FILE CORRECTLY!!!!!
3) WinRAR 3.20
4) Cdgenps2 v2
Getting Ready:
1) Download ps2reality, and Unzip it to a folder.
2) Download the newest version CDRWIN , and install it.
3) Download the newest version of WinRAR, and install it.
4) Download Cdgenps2 and unzip it if its needed.
Making and Burning the Image File:
1) Open cdgenps2.exe
2) Open your folder with the mediaplayer files in it.
3) Open the folder ps2.
4) Select all the files in this folder and drag them into the cdgenps2 windows you opened earlier. (note you have 2 drag + drop from an active windows, window into the program)
5) Find your divx/xvid/mp3/jpg file(s) and drag them into cdgenps2 window.
6) You should now have a list in this order:
CDGENPS2
LETTER.CHR
COPY2.CNF
IDIOMA.TXT
COPY.CNF
LICENSES.TXT
MCLOADER.ELF
MCUPLOAD.TXT
OGG.RAR
PS2MEDIA.RAR
SYSTEM.CNF
UNRAR.IRX
DivX/XviD/Mp3/Jpg file
*IF ITS NOT EXACTLY IN THIS ORDER DONT WORRY
JUST MAKE SURE THE MOVIE OR SONG OR PICTURE IS LAST
7) Next go to File then Save Image.
8) Save the image as a bin/cue in a folder. ( after this step it will look like windows has frozen, but just wait, it will finish)
7) Open up CDRWIN and click on the top left icon. (Record Disc)
8) On the right hand side, you will see a button named Load Cuesheet , click here and then select the cue file you made earlier.
9) On the bottom, switch the speed to 2x, then on the right hand side click Start Recording.
10) You should have created a succesfull divx/xvid/mp3 disc !!!!
Booting Instructions:
*You must have some sort of booting method to play backups.
(magic3.1 , messiah2 , flip top + swap magic boot disc, swipe card + swap magic)
1) Put the Disc in and boot as how you would boot a ps2 backup game.
2) After the Playstation 2 Logo, Some stuff will come up about ps2reality , just click x and it will go away.
3) You will now have a Menu with the following:
Applications In The MC
Load Media Player from MemCard
Load Media Player from CDROM
Load Media Player from Ps2vfs
Memory Card Manager
Configure IP
4) Go to Load Media Player from CDROM
5) You now get more windows about the license. Again just press x 2 times and you will get to the Disclaimer page. Press Start
and Select your language
6) You will now have a Menu with the Following:
Play
Broswer
MP3 Player
JPG Viewer
Configuration
Configure Net
Staff
7) Go to Configuration and you will have yet another menu with the following:
Save Options
Center Screen
High Quality/Medium Quality/Low Quality
Depth 16/32 Bit
Switch GMT
Fonts CDROM
8) Go to Center Screeen and choose NTSC or PAL and center your screen.
9) Make sure that the Quality is High, not medium or low. (If the movie is having troubles playing switch to Medium or Low)
10) Make sure the Depth is 32Bit (Again if your having trouble change it to 16Bit)
11) Go to Save Options and it will save your default language and the options you just changed to your memory card.
12) Go back to the Main Menu so you can play your file
For Playing Movies DivX/XviD, Go to Play
For Playing MP3, Go to MP3 Player
For Playing JPG's go to JPG Player
*Some Movies may take longer to play.
If you are having trouble making this work, try the following:
1) Burn on a high quality CDR, Unbranded CDR might now work. Some good brands for CD's are
Verbatim, Memorex, TDK, Ritek. Whatever works for playing backups of ps2 games should work!
2) Burn at the slowest speed possible, It might take a longer but you have a better chance of it working.
3) DO NOT USE NERO BURNER. It has been reported on many sites that there is a bug in the program.
which will screw up the sectors and make a bad disc. USE CDRWIN!!!!!
4) If it says that you need to insert a ps2 or ps1 format disc then you probably need a modchip,
or some other method of playing backups.
5) If you are using the swap trick, you wont be able to boot anything over 74min\650mb GET A MODCHIP!
Thanks to the PS2 Reality Team for creating this!!!!!
also i take no credit in creating this guide it was found on the net else where and i "borrowed" it

That is pretty extensive, however my method is much easier.
1. D/L PS2 media player V1.5
2. Extract the file with Winrar
3. Extract .bin file to readable folder
4. Open up Alcohol 120% and select .bin file and burn it to CD-R
5. Pop disc into PS2 and let it load up.
Anyways no need for that other program you listed.
well maybe were d/l a diferent version or somthing as i get the same files/folders

as well ...... then as far as i know it needs to compiled into a bin/cue
i can definately confirm that extracting the ps2 media player file doesnt give me a bin/cue straight away which is why i posted this method
i have never tried this, only looked it up today, but have been able to compile a bin/cue using this method. i have not been able to test it as my ps2 is currently @ my m8's house

Check your e-mail. ;) Anyways, I am glad I didn't find the version you guys are talking about. The one I found was MUCH easier to get up and running. Mine came out as bin and cue as soon as I extracted it with Winrar.

Did you get your AVI files on DVD-R to work? I got it to detect the disc and display the files in the browser but it wouldn't let me play them. I am still getting the hang of the player's controls though.

I just talked to someone over at PS2ownz who said they got their AVI files on DVD-R to work but they only worked when burned with Nero. I used RNM in data mode for mine.

Weird. I just got XBMC up and running on my XBOX and it plays that DVD-R just fine (the one I burned with RNM that wouldn't work). Then again I shouldn't be surprised as this thing plays EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!
