I am after the SiS Advance AC '97 audio accelerator driver for a acer travelmate 270, i went to the Acer website http://support.acer.com.au/Servlet/rwp-ps?/supportacer.nsf/webnav2/Portable+PCs?OpenDocument&ML and downloaded the audio driver, modem driver and video driver, the modem and video worked fine but the SiS Advance AC '97 audio accelerator driver did not.
The message i got was
SiS Advance AC '97 audio accelerator driver.exe is not a valid win32 application.
This is the error i get when i try to unzip.
The only thing i can think of is that i loaded the modem first and the website states that i should load the audio before the modem.
I deleted the modem then tried to run the audio driver again and got the same message, the same as above.
Is there any where else i can get this driver from or can anyone see a mistake i have made.
Thanks in advance.

jonno, I would say you might have a virus - do a sweep with the latest update and try unzipping and installing again

I just updated my antivirus and i am clean, tried to install again and the same error message comes up.
Is there anywhere else i can get this driver from because i tried www.sis.com (http://www.sis.com) and there is no driver by this name unless it comes up as something different.
Thanks

You could first try System-Restore to restore to the point before you install the drivers.
If you look on the Abit website and look for drivers for the BL7, this board also uses the same sound chipset, so it may work.

If i do the system restore will i lose all the updates i did last night that was 5 hours worth
I am also going to try that zip file on another system, i will let you know how i go. I may be able to unzip on another system and then move the files over with my ipod.
There is a problem with restoring the system i had the blaster virus last night and had to switch off the system restore, i never started it again and i have no restore points.

The download link was for the Audio Driver for Windows XP/2000.
Keep in mind that both are built on the NT kernel as they are NT 5.1 and NT 5.0 respectively.
The site was the Pan-America section from the Global Acer site.
Here is the link.................
