Installing modchips questions

Haven't kept up with new modchip releases for quite some time. Installing one, is it still the pain in the arse as it always was, or is there a better solution out now?

Still a pain but there are less wires to the dvd controller.

The newest with the least wires are: Duo 2 or Messiah 2 v2 @ 17 wires for V1 - V7. Messiah 2 v2 @ 19 wires for V8 - V10. Duo 2 is (I think) 22 wires for V8 - V10.

The Messiah 2 v2's are really nice for v9 & v10...less soldering to the via's underneath and you don't have to worry as much about the heatshield being pushed up. There's not a lot of space between the motherboard and heatshield on bottom.
