my son's pc keeps freezing a few minutes after being booted
running xp this problem only started today been ok before
about a month ago i replaced
harddrive 80gig
graphics card geforce fx5200
soundcard
wireless network belkin
was running win 98 before reinstalled with xp

can anyone help or it's a fresh install

Doubt if it has anything to do with the upgrades or the OS, something is obviously overheating, boot up and check CPU temp in CMOS. Graphics card could also be overheating,

CPU specs?
Are ALL cooling fans working?

Try booting the PC into safe mode first (F8) and see if it freeze's up after a few mins then? it may be a piece of software loading and locking, other than that I would agree with Cougar UK

strange been on for 4 hours this morning and running ok
the freezing seems to have stoppedhttp://66.197.142.137/forums/images/icons/icon10.gif
all fans are working ok including the one on the graphics card

this happened to me once and it turned out that I had downloaded some kind of addware/spyware I went to system restore...... Start - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore went back a week and problem solved.
