I'm pretty confident I've not been spamming this url all over the old forum, and I'm pretty confident I've predominantly been involved in arguments with formerly banned members who came back on and started messing about.

I think people could show a little gratitude for the fact that that forum was there for them for so long, and without it there wouldn't be the member base to have made this place a success.

Anyway, this is not the place for argument and sure enough someone is only going to suspend me if I continue to reply to your comments so lets just kiss and make up.

This argument (or lack thereof) is neither here nor there with me m8. You made a comment insinuating some were acting like children (even at the other site) and I find it amusing coming from you that you'd post something like that when you of all people can be placed under the same light.

We can't control everyone that visits that old site and decides to act immaturely, no more than we can control yourself for acting the same way. We can control it here and I don't agree with what's transpired in the past.

Spamming DVDRG? I don't recall saying you have? To the best of my knowledge no staff here has unbanned members of that site that were once banned (at least I've read nothing here to substantiate that presumption) that you've argued with.

You seem to think the only reason we moved was so the mods are better off? They did it for the REGULAR members like you and me, they did it to improve the QUALITY of the forum, they did it to make SURE that the forum will NEVER even come close to closing again.

Well said mate. Although, you've completely missed my point. Though you are right on one thing - I am guilty of childish behaviour (usually in the name of humour) - but then if we look at all the posts I'm sure the same can be said of every member of this board.

All I'm saying is that its pretty ungrateful that people are happily pissing all over the old CDRG, even though it gave us all a good place to be for the last few years AND without it this (much better) forum would never have developed. For example, a bunch of people here have been bragging about how they have registered at CDRG just to play havoc (eg Scaryinyour ...) to name but one.

I certainly don't think we moved here for the mods benefit, I don't see where that idea comes from - we moved because the old place was being run badly, end of story. As for my opinion of 2 of the mods, thats nothing new and I know for a fact that its shared by more than a couple of other long term members here who don't respond well in the face of double standards. But - its a fact of life that a minority of people in "positions of power" will lose their objectivity.

And I'm not "pissed at this forum" at all, I think this is a very good forum (as it was at its former address) - I'm pissed at the smug attitude people have towards the downfall of the place that formerly they called home and I think we could treat it better. Like everyone else, I'm very grateful to the folks for their efforts in setting this place up, thats not in question.

I think this is the sort of thing that could make interesting discussion if people would be a bit more open minded - I'm not trying to slander the forum, just talk about an aspect of it. I'll say again - this is an outstanding forum on the whole, and one that I will continue to be a member of for many years - if that means taking a new identity and using another machine in the lab then so be it ;)

OK everybody take a chill-pill, I was going to close the thread down because that's what power-hungry mods do, we kill free speech ;) however I'm not against airing this issue if we can get it resolved.

There is some bad blood against the old site, not due to the members over there but to the way the owners treated the Mods & Members. People express this in different ways, personally I would prefer to deposit a burning bag of dog turds on Charles' front door step, ring the bell & run away, but alas I'm all out of paper bags.

Due to many unsavory characters being unbanned over there and the total non-existance of Mods many people have taken it upon themselves to post inflammatory threads. The flow on effect is that some of the wars started there spill into our peaceful little enclave. So as they say in my local pub 'Take it outside gentlemen'

If you want to use the old CDRG or any other place for that matter to Flame the Mods here then perhaps there is a bigger issue, If you don't like the way you are being treated or how this place is organised then there are plenty of other forums out there. Maybe you'll find one that suits your views on how much 'personal opinion' you can post.

Ok I think I see where or disagreement lies, correct me if I am wrong.

You see the cdrg as a 'place' and the people that helped you were a result of you being at that 'place'.

I see the cdrg as a 'community' and the people that helped me were a result of cdrg being a 'community'.

Since you believe the 'place' never moved you feel as though its the same as it was, and we are trying to replace the 'place'.

And since I believe the 'community' has moved here then I feel like the cdrg is nothing but a shell where the 'community' once was.

I guess I am just more of a spiritual person. I see a forum as a living breathing entity. I believe it has a soul. And I guess I just don't think the body is as important as the soul. I believe that a body can die, but a soul can live forever. (cue the cheesey music :rolleyes: )

Thanks DM for a level headed approach - as someone said to me recently, whinging for the sake of it is inflammatory, but whinging in the hope of improving things is worthwhile! I think its worthwhile talking about things that may make things better.

I apologise if I seemed to be trying to start a fight, that really isn't my intention - I just noticed that people were being pretty unfair towards the old CDRG and I wanted to say something about it. Words said, I'll step back into line and say once again that this is a great site which I enjoy immensely :)

@ps2wiz - paranoia m8 - I thought we had settled our differences the other day?? I was referring to people like anita_offen and Fonty - they were troublemakers from the start and banned a while ago but have been freed somehow in the move and were making hell over there - I don't put you in that category so it wasn't a ref to you.

EDIT: @fatty (just saw your post!) - no I agree that the forum is only as good as its members no matter what its address, I simply don't like to see people crapping all over the old site just because it let us down - it seems spiteful.
