Morning all, lovely day in the old UK, absolutely peeing it down.

anyways...

about a month or so ago I started getting problems on my PC. Mostly burn movies in either ISO or IMG format using DVDDecrypter and have never had problems.

Then IMG format stops working, it either gives an i/o error (know this sounds h/w related) or freezes the PC. However when burning ISO's all is fine everytime, so can't see it is h/w. Upgraded DVDDecrypter but no joy, so tried Alcohol and it worked, once. Now again it freezes on burning IMG's, although I can mount the IMG files fine.

Even DVDshrink gives an error when opening the IMG, but this is on all IMG's, must be at least 30 on the PC, and can't imagine all are corrupted as I have burnt some of them before the problem started.

About the same time PowerDVD started playing up, very jerky playback and no sound. Loaded WinDVD and all fine.

So I suppose, apart from reformating, is there any reason why IMG's wouldn't burn/open.

Your pence/cents worth please on a postcard.

Hi T, Did U do any Updates to your Burning progys prior to this or any Updates concerning SP1/SP2 prior to this...If U did the update could be causeing you a Problem....
This happened to me with one or two updates in the past...Caused me no end of problems n took me weeks to find the culprit....
If I want an ISO of a Movie I use DVD Decryptor (Updated) to Write n Burn If its a DVD 5 or "Image Tool" (old un) to make an ISO.after its been through Shrink..
Have you done a Comp Scan with Norton/Ad-Aware/SpyBot Search n Destroy/Defrag etc.,.....I do all em first these days before seeing if its a New Install or Update that could be causeing it all.......Hope I've been a Little Helpfull to ya.......

hiya m8,

cheers for the reply.
certainly done the virus, spyware thing and no joy.
to be honest i can't really remember about the updates though so it may be a thought, but apart from removing them one by one, i may as well reformat and pray really.

You should be able to simply change the .IMG extension to .ISO as they are typically identical files.

I must pop into these Forums a bit more oftener...Sorry I'm late...I now find it Easier to do All mine as an ISO file.....What I now do is this----Rip with DVD Decryptor....(a Full Movie) Re-Author with Shrink-----Burn the Movie to DVD with Nero.....For a Copy of a Copy I Open Decryptor, click on "Read ISO" when that ISO is in Hard Disk I then use "Write ISO" All useing Decryptor.....Far Far Easier....I'm New to all this DVD business n it's taken me a while to get this Correct, n it Works Every Time....Good Luck...
