not quite rleased yet but sound like the sort of time to upgrade (christmas)

and apparently it supports DL burning so quite a few bugs should be ironed out by then

Yeah but it will be + format only for D/L Burning AND it is going to only save you a whopping 3-4 minutes over the current 8x burners. Not to mention 16x media will be kinda spendy at that time. Sorry but I don't trust Philips DVD Players/burners.

im just letting everyone know the news
as they say 'dont shoot the messenger' ;)

but yeah id prefer a better make of dvdrw and as for DL i wouldt have much use as 4.5GB a disc @ 4x is by far enough for me right now

BTW anyone now if a lite-on could get a 8x for 4x firmware upgrade in the future...... speaking of which i couldnt even update the firmware on my 411s when i tried b4 :(

Sorry I was trying to say that you were stupid for posting it. I was just saying that people shouldn't get too excited over it. It makes me laugh when people whine because they can burn CDs at 52x and they can't burn DVDs at more than 8x (ATM). The maximum time difference is 6 minutes.

as all things 'typed' there isnt a "tone" that it is said in, so no bother m8 like you say it doesnt shave too much time off, but if ur like me and have a 4x writer then a 16x can save 18 mins ( i think :) )

but of course you's could of took my "dont shoot the messenger" the wrong way as you never slated/flamed me

save 18 mins??? That would mean that it would be done around 3mins before you start.

Well why would you want a 16x burner then if you burn at 2x to be safe?

4x takes 15-16 minutes to burn a full DVD-R/+R disc. 16x will take 5-6 minutes to burn a full DVD-R/+R disc. The new Pioneer 108/A08 will be out in the US in September and it will support 16x writing to both formats as well as be the first D/L writer to support 4x writing.
