god i seem to be having lots of probs at the mo! i had a virus cmd32 which i got off kazaa. I deleted the files and wiped it off. But everytime i restarted the pc it said windows could not locate the cmd32 file. So to get rid of this i repaired xp. After this had finished the pc now consontly restarts itsself on booting at the same point every time. ive tryed repairing it 3 times. checking temps. but to no avail
i am running xp home with 512 ddr 333 ram and a athlon 2.4 ghz. I have also tryed moving the ram to another slot.
any ideas? i dont reallly want to format the h/d and lose all my files

Can you access Windows? and how did you remove the virus?

sounds like a windows, i.e software error, rather than hardware. try booting into safe mode and running your AV again. if you have another h/d then backup your data, or buy a cheap 40gb etc, then reinstall.

no i cant get into windows at all. ive tryed running it in safe mode and the last known good configaration nut it does the same. i used avast antivirus to delete the file. it happened after i tryed repairing xo.
