No Solder Mods

Also knows as the RMod, Steath mod, and the Mod thats not a Mod, this mod requires No Soldering whatsoever. It just plugs into the PS2 mainboard connecters, Power, and door Eject. Basicly, all it does is opens the PS2 door, without telling the PS2. It can boot CD Based Ps2 games, PS1 games,DVD-R games, and DVD Rips under 630mb.

The No Solder Mod requires a Gameshark2, Action Replay2, DVD Region X, or Swap Magic Disk in order to function properly

Theres no way to boot CD-R's over 630mb because the TOC of the boot disk. If there was a Boot disk that was programmed to boot 700mb, then it would. The only game over 630mb that boot is Resident Evil Code Veronica X.

Version 6

This one will also work on Version 7 PS2's

There are some No Solder mods that work on both Version 5&6

Neo Key

Also know as the Sbox, and many other names,
This external chip uses the 700x or the Neo 2.2 programming, and the 8-pin chip. The Neo Key just plugs into the PS2 USB Slot, and requires a linked solder wire inside the Ps2, which is easy, on a version 5, it requres a resistor to be removed. This chip cannot boot DVD-R's, but can direct boot PSX backups, and can boot PS2 Cd-r backups and DVD-Rips under and over 630mb. This chip cannot boot unpatches EA games(see below).
The Neo Key supports Version 1-6 Ps2's

With the help of the EA box, the Neo Key can boot unpatched EA backups, and maybe boot DVD-R's It also requires 7 soldering points, it only supports version 4 and 5 Ps2's

Neo 2.2

The one that set the stage for them all, its a Neo 2.0 with more features.
This chip can boot DVD-rs, direct boot PS1 backups, Boot Ps2 backups under and over 630mb, and boot unpatched and patched EA backups, if the extra wire is soldered, it will boot unpatched. This chip requres 5-9 wires to be soldered.
This chip usually cost about 1$ to make.
This chip works on version 1-6 Ps2

Ace Key

This chip was created off the No Solder mod, it requires 1 wire to be soldered from the chip to PS2, it will boot DVD-Rs, PSX, and PS2 games under and over 630mb. The only problem is it only works properly on PAL machines. This chip works on Version 5&6 Ps2's

Auto Boot 3

This is made from the Neo 2.5/2.6 I think, as it requires the same boot method, this chip works on both NTSC and PAL machines, it boots DVD-r's, PSx backups, and PS2 backups under and over 630mb. EA games are required to be patched to work with this chip.
Works on versions 5 and 6 and requires 3 wire to be soldered.

Neo 2.5/2.6

This chip is totally different from the Neo 2.2, it requires you to hold reset to play every game. It requires 5 soldering points for the 2.5, and 6 for the 2.6. It has 2 modes for booting CD backups, and requires you to patch EA backups. It also plays games over and under 630mb.
Works on Version 4 and 5 Ps2

Nova2

The Nova2 seems like its in a different league than all the other chips. It plays everything with a swap, one of its biggest feature is that it can boot any DVD-R without a large TOC. It's biggest feature is that it can boot imports. This Chip can also be combined with the Neo 4 to make a No Swap combination. This chip is also the same as the Origa Chip. They work on versions 1-5. Requires 14-24 wires to be soldered, and is the hardest chip to install.

Neo 4.0/4.1

This Chip plays Ps1 and Ps2 CD backups No swap, and DVD backups with a swap, but doesn't require a Boot Disk. In addition to that, it disables Marcovision, and has Muti Region DVD playback. It was the first chip to have the No Swap feature. This chip requires 44 wire to be soldered. It works on verison 1-4.

Neo 4.5

Same as the Neo 4.1, this just requires 11 solder points, and uses a BIOS clip, that takes the place of the other wires. 2 tracks need to be cut, works on 1,3, and 4 with a Bios GAP

Original Messiah

The First chip ever to have complete No Swap. No Swap to play anything.
Requires 23 wires to be soldered. Works on Versions 1-6 on PAL Machines, and Version 4 Gap NTSC

Messiah2

The chip that has been comming out for years has finally arrived. It works on all version PS2's(version 1-70) and plays everything No Swap. It is also Universal and has auto detection to detect the version of the PS2 and configure itself. Requires 23 soldering points.

Magic 3

The next version of the Magic is here. I has all the bugs fixed from the Magic2. This chip can work on any version PS2(versions 1-7). This chip is Universal, meaning only 1 chip for all versions. The Magic 3 is also able to play DVD9 games and movies. This chip can DIRECT BOOT everything.

True Magic3's are blue, and will have a http://www.cdrom-guide.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif face on them as you can see below, there offical site also has brown ones, seen below also, but I don't recommend buying a brown one.

Swap Magic Disks

These are the New Swap Magic Disks, they let you perform the Knife trick on all Versions of the PS2, even Version 7. They only require a Single Swap for DVD and CD games, and can boot large DVD's, even Devil May Cry. The best thing about them, they only cost 20.00.

To add to that:

http://www.modchipman.com/catalog/images/dms3v2.jpg

1) Direct boot of PS2 originals/imports/backups (all media, including DVD-9 and multi-disc titles).
2) Direct boot of PSX originals/imports/backups (anti-mod and multi-disc titles supported).
3) Macrovision disable.
4) DVD region free.
5) PSX import screen position fix.
6) Boot any PS2 executable directly from memory card. (DivX, Mp3, Logo etc.)
7) Loader code contained in flash and upgradeable via software by the PS2 to support future feature enhancements. 2 copies of loader code stored in flash. Copy 1 is not upgradeable. On bootup, the hardware will determine whether copy 2 is valid and if not, fallback to copy 1 (protects against reflashing failures).
8) Versions 1-8 of PS2 are compatible with this chip.

Special notes from DMS3 website

- PS2 Mode:
Direct-boot ALL PS2 games including backups, imports, originals, silvers and DVD9.

- PSX Mode:
Direct-boot PSX games including backups, imports, originals, silvers and most* anti-mod games.

- DVD Video Mode:
Play all region** DVD movies without Macrovision, RGB(Green-Screen) fixed.

- Dev.olution Mode:
Boot applications such as the PS2reality Media Player from memory card as soon as the system starts up.

- Sleep Mode:
Allows you to play online games*** that detect modchips.

- Firmware Upgrade via CDR:
Upgrade your chip to the latest firmware by simply sticking a CDR with the upgrade on it into your PS2. No need to remove/replace your chip to get the latest updates. Write protection for Firmware Flash so it's impossible for a chip to be completely erased by rogue code or power-loss during upgrade.

- Use MegaMemory 8/16 memory cards just like an official Sony® memory card****.

There is one for V9 consoles that has the same specs.
