two ways;

set up rules with every possible spelling of V1@gr4 or,

ditch the account and setup something unlikely to be breached by spam.

REALLLY want to avoid option 2

option 1 doesnt even work at all. First rule I set up with just basic spelling of viagra - still lets basic spelling of viagra emails through ..... aaaaaaarrrrggghhhhh

never seen a prob with the rules not working, how have you set them up.

i had an old ntl account which was bombarded so went and bought myself a cheap domain from 123-reg.co.uk for £3 a year. set up an obscure ntl account that noone needs to know about and set up the forwarding.

Mailwasher http://www.mailwasher.net/ seems quite popular. This can help weed things out before using your mail program.
Also, Outlook 2003 has a spam filter which is 'ok'. A combination of this with some advanced rules would be a good defence.

How does MailWasher® Pro work?

MailWasher® Pro works directly with your email server, exactly like your email program does. But there is one important difference: you can tell MailWasher® Pro to delete a message at the server, without downloading it.

MailWasher® Pro retrieves information about all the email on the server. With that information (some of which is also processed by MailWasher® Pro), you can decide what to do with each individual email - download, delete, or report.

If you check your accounts with MailWasher® Pro first, you can delete the email you do not want. Then, when you use your email program, it downloads only the remaining email, those that you want to read.

MailWasher® Pro can be thought of as a "first line of defense" which weeds out junk, large wasteful attachments and potentially harmful viruses.

Yup .... I can recommend Mailwasher .... been using it for several months now.

You can blacklist stuff and bounce it too ... gives you a real sense of satisfaction :D
