I have two printers with the same problem.
Epson C44 & Epson C42.
They both need a service.
Is there something I can do to reset them.
Ive tried SSC Service Utility but these printers arent fully supported.
Thanks
GPick.

Whats up with them are the prinouts getting crappy?

If so order the head cleaning solution from http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/kea0.html

Works Great :)

Not printing at all.
A message came up saying service required - parts inside may need replacing.

If you go back to epson it will cost more than the printers worth :(

Its easier and cheaper to buy a new C44 (C42s have been discontinued)

Sorted the C42.
Got a Service program from www.2manuals.com/ (http://www.2manuals.com/)
Reset the waste ink and now it`s working.

You should also clean out the waste ink wells or they will overflow and ink will leak from the back of the printer.

It is a messy job but you can wash out the pads that soak up the ink dry them out and reuse them.

Thanks m8

I'm using XP Pro and a C44 Plus, but all I get is a "Cannot open Port" error.

Did you use this with XP or W98 ?

When I downloaded it it said it needed to be run on Win98 only.
Thought i`d put this in the emails.
Sorry if I missed it on yours.

GPickThanks for confirming.
Now I know it works with the C44 and W98, I'll stow it away until needed.
I have an old lappy that I can put W98 on, when the time comes.

Cheers

Hi

Also got C44 with same prob, it arises from a virtual count of the number of times it has dumped ink to the cleaning tank.

I have checked mine and its virtually empty, so i only need to reset.

I am running Windows Xp though.

Mail to - roman-28@ntlworld.com

Thanks.

I have downloaded the SSC Service Utility, cleaned the ink waste pads, and tried to run the program. It isn't working. Do I need to have authentic Epson cartridges in my printer to make it work? Help!

most printers have a memory chip inside that give you the following

how many prints you done
how many printer head cleans has been done
how many new ink carts have been put in the unit

after that they are design to go to error and not much you can do about it
once the memory fills up

yes its a con

you can try the real carts in the printer that might help
but i had the same problem and nothing helped it :(

Can't believe how old this thread is.
Don't have the service prog anymore.
But there is a free one that works with XP available from here
