recently some of my back up disc,s play ok but are not being recognised when I try and copy them , nearly all these discs are yellow tops or non datasafe 4x ritek that I use. these yellows have copied in past but now for some reason nearly all my yellow tops are not recognised by my 106 writer. I used stomp, and nero and both are same.
has anyone had same prob, is it poor media ?

any help gratefully appreciated.

Datawrite or Datasafe Yellowtops? If my memory serves me correctly, The Datawrite Yellowtops carried the Princo dye, if so then this is par for the course as lots of people have had thier Princos quit working on them after a year or so. Can your PC still read them? If so, I recommend transferring them over to a more reliable disc VERY QUICK!!!!!!!!!! Do you have a seperate DVDROM-DRIVE? If your 106 won't read them then you might be screwed as burners are supposed to be quite adept at reading things.

When you say "not recognised" ... what error message are you getting and in what software ?

As jester says, it's probably Princo rubbish ...... have you tried copying the disks to your HDD with DVD Decrypter ?

yes tried copying onto hhd with decrypter but still will not accept disc. using record now I get a message "PLEASE INSERT A DISC INTO THE PIONEER DVD- RW DVR-106D (e)". In nero It just says disc un recognised. its only these media discs that I am having probs with. Thanks for replies, its a nightmare

Might be worth trying them on another PC, just to check that it IS the disks and not your 106 turning fussy., although ... it does sound like the disks.
If they work on another PC, you could try copying them to Riteks on there.
