On the other hand, Lite-On is second to none when it comes to firmware support. Their firmware upgrades usually "match more media" for better media compatibility and frequently includes updated writing strategies for improved drive performance.
Kprobe media scanner is used to test the quality of the burns as well as the media on the Lite-On drives and in most cases it will indicate an improvement in write quality over the previous firmware.
You can always use on of the many available tools for Lite-On drives such as FlashFix or LtnFlash or MtkWinFlash to revert to the previous firmware.
