Anyone else experiancing quite disgraceful service from NTL?

Constantly there are problems with email...randomly the POP servers wont respond, then at other times I cant send a message for love nor money but can receive OK

Then the proxy servers go down randomly, other times all internet activity (email, web, msn) will stop working for a few minutes then randomly be OK again despite being connected the whole time

Then other times it will take 20 attempts to dial up because the remote computer doesnt respond

To be honest the service is complete crap
I wanna complain to NTL but they never read or reply to any emails and take ages on the phone...is there any way I could complain?

And is anyone else having so many problems? Im in Reading area

I'm on ntl broadband, and have been having problems sending for a while with the problems you've listed - there's a note about it on their service (?) status site..

yeh Ive read the alert about email service, which is fair enough, and that isnt bothering me so much now

But what IS REALLY annoying me is the fact that the net is STILL going down randomly, links randomly dont work, refreshes dont work, and this is on all sites. What the hell am I paying £10 a month for?

And to add insult, went to NTL's site to try and complain, and on the contact us section there isnt even an option for dial up!! Just broadband...as if dial up doesnt even exist anymore  so i cant even complain!

i agree with you 100 % mate their service is absolutely disgraceful.

they should be made to pay compensation to the 10's of 1000's if not more users for their attrocious service, this has been going on too long, it started when they went into melt down about their finacial position and i like i guess many others decided when their service was getting worse to give them the benefit of the doubt and hoped things got better when their financial position improved.

But the fact is it their finacial position has improved and still they run the service at an absolute minimum cost to themselves, meaning no end of problems to end users !!!

They wont give a toss untill people unite, get organised and threaten (not idly) to cancel all their packages with ntl.

It also doesn't help when the biggest company of them all BTare being tight fisted with regard to upgrading the exchanges so that everybody would have an alternative to this crappy broadband experience !!!

They are taking liberties and some authority somewhere should really do something to protect the british people from this kind of extortion !!!

Not that I condone the activity of all ISP's in this country, but it is obvious to all that due to varying pressure, including government and watchdog, that they will now be spending all their money on broadband.

Of course this is no excuse or help to those unable, for whatever reason, to get Broadband, but it is the truth I'm afraid.

With regards to Broadband I have had NTL for over a year since leaving ADSL and find the service excellent. The problem NTL face is that when they expanded, they bought out so many local cable companies, some with good quality cables, and some in a few areas like Andover/Salisbury or Leicester(Diamond cable i think) with very poor cabling. Having bought these cmopanies, they declined of course and didn't have the money to totally upgrade to acceptable cable to provide the service they should be. For myself, in Surrey, the service is excellent but yes I am lucky as I live in a region with a very good cable company prior to NTL.

Apart from that.. yes their email service is diabolical. I dread to think what pop/smtp servers they have running the system, but they are not up to the job for definite. Maybe if they(and all ISP's) turned on smtp authentication, it would cut down on the spamming(be that virii or junkmail) and therefore the amount of data their little boxes have to process each day.

Personally I wouldn't go so far as to call it extortion, but business being run poorly and ultimately watched over by very dire authority.

totally agree with the boys here. ntl are pony with a capital p. my advice to anybody that is using ntl is dont. I am lucky enough to live in an area where bt broadband is available. after months of moans and get nowhere calls to ntl I gave in and went back to bt. I use a company called pipex, and after 6 months I have had no problems whatsoever. Its not the cheapest but with ntl its true to say that if you pay peanuts you get monkeys

Glad to see Im not the only one

Have got NTL broadband here, which someone else in my house has but for various reasons (mainly him being selfish and scared of technology) I cannot share it...but that connection has had its fair share of problems too so its not just dial up

Unfortunatly dont have a BT line anymore even though ADSL is avaolable here, but as soon as I get some more income coming in I think im gonna get a line put back in and get ADSL
