You can only watch what is sent to it via the ethernet port. Recording video streamed off of the internet is the best that could be accomplished.

If you're expecting to use it like a real TiVO to record local broadcast television or cable TV, you can't, unless someone figures out how to attach a TV tuner to the Xbox.

At very most you'll be able to record streaming video from the streams that are available on the internet, but quality isn't the greatest- but as QWERTY says, short of making some sort of xbox compatible tv tuner card proper tivo is unlikely to see the light of day

I think he was just trying to give him an alternative to recording instead of the Xbox see as it's not possible at the moment (or ever). I'm assuming he used a PC to post this question? ;)

some projects are best served by the hardware specifically designed for them.
ie: ps2 games should only be played on a ps2, the xbox flat out can emulate it, never will. as is with tivo.... the video encoder on the xbox does just that, it encodes the signal to be sent to the tv. it's not equipped with a de-coder, hence a tivo setup would never be available for the ol' xbox.
