Hello,
I have a Sony vaio PCG-7121M notebook. My Graphic card NVIDEA GeForce 8400 M must have a problem because I cannot access my account even after a complete formatting .

- I can only work on windows safe mode.
- when I turn on the notebook, after a few instants,it shows me the logo of Vaio or Windows but I also get vertical, colored bars on the background. After that I cannot reach the window which shows the Windows accounts.

Searching for solutions online I found on youtube that this Graphic card SONY vaio problem is rather common.

This is why I opened my laptop and took a photo of it so that you could suggest where the graphic card chip is located.
Here's the photo (alternatively you can check the files attached, which has got a smaller resolution): https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B-I_TaQEfwaMNmI3YWQ3N2MtOWVlOC00MDAzLWFjZDktNjE1OGJj NmQ2YjMx&hl=en_US

After that I would appreciate a lot any suggestions on what to do with it, i.e., how to fix the graphic card problem.

Thank you very much in advance really

See you later

Andrew

Very common problem, the graphics chip are disconnected from the socket, since around 2007 I think, most comapnies were told not to use lead as a joiner, but what they replaced with dont work, they hardup and break after a while, there are temp workaround by heating up the chip and then use something like a chopstick to presshard against the socket to recreate the joins, but dont last long, the long term solution is to reball the chip, where the engineer would take off the chip, clean the socket, then resolder the chip with lead balls to create a better join again.
