will pcie 2 work on my pcie 1 mobo?

as it says peeps my mobo is pcie 1X16,but a lot of newer graphics cards are pcie 2x16,will they still work ok??

Yep, it will work. PCIe 2.x is backward compatible with PCIe 1.x (1.0 & 1.1). Likewise, PCIe 3.0 is backward compatible with PCIe 2.0 & 2.1.
