If you want to play your ps2 online and be on the pc at the same time you will need a router. If you just want to play online and save a few bucks you can simply unplugg the cable cord from your pc and hook it up the the ps2, and then after your done you can hook your computer up again. NTL shouldn't say anything to you either way.... enjoy your gaming!

i'm on blueyonder broadband, i have 2 network cards in my pc, one connected directly to my cable modem and the other to my ps2 network adapter with a crossover cable and have ics enabled in win xp so i can play my ps2 online and have my pc connected to the internet at the same time

the only problem i have is that sometimes i cant connect with the ps2 if i'm downloading something on the pc

If you don't mind having your PC unplugged then you can get by without a router. If you do then just buy a router, they are cheap enough now that they are well worth the expense. ;)
