Hi,
My sons laptop has been infected with viruses. I can connect to the internet. I uninstalled firefox as it was coming up with an error. Internet explorer comes up page not found. It had free version of AVG on it. The first threat that comes up is trojan horse Ransom.p How do I get rid of this?

Also error loading C:\windows\obodpuv.dll

Or can I just re-install windows. Using windows XP on a samsung NP-NC10 notebook.

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks

bb

Try downloading and running SuperAntiSpyware (http://download.cnet.com/SuperAntiSpyware-Free-Edition/3000-8022_4-10523889.html) (free)

Run it in Safe Mode if you have any problems.

Also Download Malwarebytes Malwarebytes (http://malwarebytes.org/) (free) and run it,

if you can't access the internet at all then maybe get a friend to do it and put it on flash drive.

 hope this helped mate

you could also just format like you says but defo try this first formating is the easy way out :D
